Baghouse dust collectors have been widely adopted in the treatment of flue gas from high-temperature furnaces in industries such as steelmaking, cement production, coal-fired power plants, and waste incinerators. Although limited by the temperature resistance of filter media, proper flue gas conditioning enables these systems to handle flue gases with temperatures as high as 1200–1400°C. The effective treatment of high-temperature flue gas requires comprehensive consideration of several factors, including temperature, dew point, acid resistance, explosion prevention, oxidation, and hydrolysis.
Cooling the flue gas is a fundamental step in ensuring the reliable operation of baghouse dust collectors. To match the thermal tolerance of filter media and reduce the volume of gas processed by the system, the cooling temperature should not exceed 280°C while maintaining at least 10–20°C above the dew point to avoid condensation. Common cooling methods include:
1.Direct Air Cooling: Suitable for flue gases below 200°C, offering simplicity and stable performance.
2.Indirect Water Cooling: Effective for flue gases above 300°C, allowing for efficient heat transfer and potential reuse of residual heat.
3.Direct Water Cooling: Highly efficient but prone to causing dust adhesion on filter bags, requiring careful consideration of operating conditions.
High-moisture flue gases, defined by a steam content exceeding 10% or relative humidity above 80%, pose additional challenges in dust removal. Such conditions can result in wet dust adhesion on filter bag surfaces, dust dissolution, and in severe cases, water accumulation at the hopper outlet. To address these issues, gas conditioning is essential, with dew point control being a critical factor. In flue gases containing sulfur oxides and moisture, it is particularly important to maintain the gas temperature 10–20°C above the acid dew point to prevent corrosion and ensure stable operation.
By leveraging appropriate cooling techniques and maintaining precise control over operational parameters, baghouse dust collectors provide efficient and reliable solutions for flue gas treatment in high-temperature and high-humidity environments.
