The hot summer not only affects the working environment and health of operators but also poses significant challenges to the normal operation and stability of cone crushers, which are subjected to heavy workloads. Below, we discuss some precautions and measures to take against high temperatures when operating cone crushers in hot summer conditions.

Dust Control: The first priority is dust control. Although many modern machines have upgraded dust control systems that reduce the chances of downtime caused by dust, such as hydraulic cone crushers and single-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers, dust issues can worsen in summer due to high temperatures and dry air. Therefore, checking the fixed bolts of the dust seal and sliding ring regularly is essential to prevent the dust seal and sliding ring from coming loose, which could allow large amounts of dust and ore to enter the machine, potentially leading to the crusher being scrapped or causing significant economic losses.
Necessary Cooling Devices: Due to the high ambient temperatures in summer, cone crushers can generate a lot of heat from heavy workloads, leading to rapid increases in the local temperature of certain components. This can result in component failures and equipment damage, adversely affecting crushing efficiency. Depending on specific conditions, it may be worthwhile to install cooling devices for components that generate significant heat. This can fundamentally prevent component damage, reduce downtime, and improve production efficiency.
Lubricant Usage: High summer temperatures can cause lubricants to become thinner, decreasing their viscosity and compromising lubrication efficiency. This increases friction between machine components, accelerating wear and causing temperature buildup, which can worsen problems. Therefore, it is crucial to select high-quality lubricants with higher viscosity and lower melting points during summer and to regularly check their effectiveness to ensure timely replacement.
In addition to the three main measures mentioned above, we should also pay attention to the following points for the operation of the equipment:
Before starting the crusher, rotate the drive wheel forcefully for one or two turns to confirm it runs smoothly, then start the machine. Additionally, do not feed material directly after starting; wait until the crusher is running normally.
Maintain uniform feeding to the crusher and avoid overloading. It is critical to prevent uncrushable materials, such as metal and wood, from entering the machine.
