Thailand's fruit industry faced a new challenge in the fight against crop pests as conventional pesticides became increasingly ineffective due to insect resistance and concerns over their impact on health and the environment. However, a sustainable solution was found by using nanoparticle pesticides with the Decent Fog Cannon.
The Decent Fog Cannon is a specialized high-pressure Fog system that can be mounted on a vehicle or trailer to cover large areas in a short time. The system creates a cloud of fine water droplets that coat the crops and foliage and reduce the temperature of the orchard. Nanoparticle pesticides are mixed into the water, which attaches to the crop surface quickly and provides effective coverage of the pests.
In a recent pilot project, the Fog cannon was used in a fruit orchard in the northern province of Chiang Mai, and the results were impressive. The nanoparticle pesticide Fog provided excellent control of pests, and the fruit quality was not impacted.
"Using nanoparticle pesticides and the Decent Fog Cannon has made a significant difference in our pest control efforts," said Mr. Somchai, a local fruit farmer. "Our fruit orchard is now more sustainable and safer for our workers and customers."
The nanoparticle pesticide Fog was effective in killing harmful insects while not affecting beneficial insects such as bees. Additionally, because this innovative Fog system does not generate harmful chemicals or gases, it's environment-friendly, making this approach an attractive one for farmers.
The successful pilot project has triggered plans for more extensive use of the Decent Fog Cannon with nanoparticle pesticide Fog across Thailand's fruit orchards. The government plans to reduce the use of conventional pesticides in agriculture by 50% by 2025, and this technology can be the key to achieving this target.
